Triple Whale rebrands around Moby, its AI operator that spends ad budgets and builds Shopify pages
The ecommerce platform used by 65,000 brands is repositioning from dashboards to approved autonomous execution.
Triple Whale rebranded on September 8 around Moby, the AI operator it now positions as the execution layer of a Shopify brand’s paid-growth stack: buying media on Meta and Google, generating creative, and standing up landing pages inside owner-approved guardrails. The Columbus, Ohio company is 65,000 brands deep, tracking more than $71 billion in GMV and $25 billion in ad spend across 85-plus countries and 2,000-plus agencies over the past year. The pitch is no longer analytics. It’s an AI coworker with a corporate card and a page builder.
The four months between May’s Moby 2 launch and this week’s identity work, developed with design agency Mucho, tell the strategic story. Moby has already produced more than 45,000 creatives and taken more than 15,000 actions across roughly a million conversations and 100,000-plus automations. Named users include True Classic, OUAI, and Pressed Juicery. Co-founder Maxx Blank is framing the shift as the company “building something much bigger” than dashboards; Moby’s sub-agents (Media Buyer, Creative Director, Conversion Optimizer) now sit on top of Compass and the Context Engine, which combines first-party attribution, MMM, incrementality tests, and live benchmarks across 60,000-plus brands.
The market context is doing real work here. TechEdgeAI cites up to $234 billion, roughly 20% of enterprise SaaS, as exposed to “agentic arbitrage” through 2030, against a $2.59 trillion worldwide AI-spend forecast for 2026. Gartner’s 2026 CMO Spend Survey pegs AI at 15.3% of marketing budgets, but only 30% of leaders describe themselves as AI-ready. That gap between allocation and readiness is what an execution-tier product is built to close.
The underlying diagnosis Triple Whale published in May still applies: three-to-five reporting tools per team, 67% seeing platform discrepancies, nearly 60% saying delayed decisions have cost at least $50,000 in revenue, and only 10% able to reallocate spend within a day. Analytics identified those problems. This rebrand argues that identifying them is no longer the product.
