Klaviyo goes headless: 260+ MCP tools open the CRM to Claude, ChatGPT and any agent a brand runs

At K:BOS on September 9, Klaviyo exposed 260+ MCP tools and 490+ APIs to outside AI systems — an agent can now read, write and go live without a person opening the app.

At its K:BOS conference in Boston on September 9, Klaviyo (NYSE: KVYO) exposed 260+ Model Context Protocol tools and 490+ APIs to outside AI systems, meaning an agent driven from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Lovable can now read the company’s data, write to it, and put a campaign live without anyone opening the Klaviyo interface. CEO Andrew Bialecki framed the move as architectural rather than a single product, and the framing matters: this isn’t a feature bolted onto the CRM, it’s the CRM stepping out of the way.

The scale behind that decision explains it. Klaviyo’s data layer processes more than 4 billion signals a day across 9 billion profiles, and its Customer Agent has already exchanged over 1.3 million messages while resolving 86% of queries autonomously, with locale detection across 100+ languages via Shopify Markets. Brands like Naked Wardrobe are the proof point Klaviyo wants cited.

Alongside the opening, Klaviyo shipped Composer, a SQL-in-Preview tool that translates plain-language prompts into queries, and rebranded Marketing Analytics as “Personalization,” a bundle of five models covering Audience Optimization, 1:1 Content, Discount Decisioning, Personalized Send Time and Channel Affinity. Klaviyo’s blog offered one dry line on why deterministic queries matter alongside probabilistic agents: “asking the same question twice gets you the same answer.”

The governance beat is real. The Agile Brand Guide noted that once an agent reaches the platform through MCP or a raw API, the send-approval screens are no longer in the path; agent scope collapses to whatever the credential permits. Klaviyo cited Gartner’s projection that 60% of brands will lean on agentic AI for 1:1 interactions by 2028, against its own estimate that AI currently automates just 16% of marketing work.

The comparison writes itself against ActiveCampaign’s Wavelength launch a week earlier: Wavelength is a proactive agent inside a product; K:BOS turned the product into an interface for other companies’ agents. Pricing, rate limits and outcome data for the headless capability weren’t published. The send button moved before the accountability did.
