Salesforce's Piper inbound agent goes GA as Dreamforce 2026 opens
Asana runs 4x the conversation volume through Piper; average deployment is 45 days.
Salesforce opens Dreamforce 2026 at Moscone Center this morning at 10:00 a.m. PT with Piper, its inbound pipeline-generation agent, already generally available as of the September 11 job-ready announcement. Piper is one of six Agentforce agents marked GA, alongside Casey, Paige, Carter, Marshall, and Fin, the customer agent whose Operator and Fin Apex custom models trace to a $3.6 billion acquisition earlier this year, per SiliconAngle.
The named-agent format is the more interesting move than the count. Salesforce is selling job titles, not features. Piper works websites and inboxes; Hunter, still in pilot with GA planned for November 2026, handles outbound and is the first agent to run on the company’s new long-horizon runtime, which Unite.ai describes as resting on three capabilities: memory, durable execution, and dynamic steering.
The customer numbers Salesforce is putting behind Piper are the ones worth reading closely. Asana drives 4x the conversation volume through it, with customers deploying in 45 days on average. The broader roster: Perk attributes 60% of its sales pipeline to Hunter, Engine’s help agent Eva resolves 50% of chat inquiries, Autism Queensland’s Paige clears 70% of administrative requests, Hibbett AI handles 90% of core shopper journeys and went live in six weeks, and Salesforce reports 79% of Anthropic’s Fin-seen conversations are resolved autonomously.
Every agent connects to Customer 360 and operates within the customer’s business rules, permissions and security. Salesforce says it has delivered 7 billion Agentic Work Units across Agentforce and Slack over the past two years, including 3.2 billion in Q2 alone, and calls the concept “becoming an Agentic Enterprise.”
This is the third named-agent beat in a month, following seven job-ready Agentforce agents and the Claudeforce sales agent built with Anthropic. Agent Optimizer and AI Skills are both slated for GA in October. Marc Benioff, Miguel Milano, and Robin Washington will make the investor case Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. PT.
